Neko Cat Cafe

Went to Neko Cat Café with my dog on Jan 8th, thinking it would be a chill spot to grab a milk tea. Sadly, it wasn’t. The staff told me dogs aren’t allowed inside. Fair enough—until I explained my dog is a service dog and cat-friendly. That’s when things took a turn for the worse. They hit me with some BS excuse about being an adoption center and said no dogs (even service dogs!) are allowed on the premises. Uh, what? Are you kidding me? Let’s get one thing straight: It’s illegal to deny access to a service dog. Businesses can’t just decide to ignore federal law because it’s inconvenient for them. But instead of acknowledging that, Neko Cat Café doubled down on their policy. Here’s the real kicker: This place isn’t some purely charitable animal shelter. It’s a for-profit business making money off drinks, beer, wine, snacks, and a cover charge for people to come play with their cats. If you’re making money from customers, you don’t get to hide behind “we’re an adoption center” to dodge the law. It’s a café first and foremost, and federal law applies. What disgusts me the most is the hypocrisy. I’ve been to plenty of actual non-profit shelters, and not once has any of them denied entry to a service dog. Yet here’s Neko Cat Café—a business raking in money—acting like the rules don’t apply to them. I get that they want to keep the cats safe, but service dogs are trained for this. They’re not a danger to anyone. What’s dangerous is this café’s blatant disregard for the law and their lack of empathy for customers who rely on service animals. At the end of the day, this is just a greedy business hiding behind the guise of being a "shelter." They want the perks of being an adoption center but without following the laws every other business has to follow. Absolutely disappointing. Won’t be back. And if you have a service dog? Don’t waste your time here.

Naughty Cat Cafe

This is the only cat cafe in the world that has over 2,000 google reviews and still has 5 star rating. It is is the second largest cat lounge in the country and has more cats than anyone else. They only let a few people in at a time so book in advance. Best cat cafe ever!

There were only 3 sleeping cats when we went and did not get close to petting one. For $50 we felt taken advantage of. Don’t know how this business can sustain itself!

Naughty Cat Cafe

This was our first time at a cat cafe. The staff and cats were all very friendly. The place was clean and well kept. We didn't go here expecting to bond with a particular fur baby, but we did. Our son is high function autistic. He loved this one bob tail cat. We are from out of state. We told them this and there seemed to be no problem. We filled out an application and went to get the items needed for a new cat. A while later we received a call stating we couldn't adopt him due to COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS! SERIOUSLY?!?!?! This is the most ridiculous excuse ever! Thanks a lot for breaking our autistic son's heart! Worse than that, you denied a cat that had been twice returned a forever home! We have cared for many rescues of different species. This cat would have had a very spoiled wonderful life in our home! There are so many animals in need of homes! YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM NOT THE SOLUTION!

Crooked Tail Cat Cafe

Crooked Tail Cat Cafe is the best cat cafe in the area, hands down. They were the first cafe to open in North Carolina, the first I've been to, and they're currently the only licensed one in the area - the other two are in Charlotte, my personal favorite is Mac Tabby! I've talked to the owner about what they had to do to open and the detail put into the place is incredible. The decorations are so detailed that the chairs have little knitted cat feet on them to protect the floors while maintaining peak cuteness, and the regulations were so stringently adhered to that they even had to coat the floor in polyurethane to keep the wood from absorbing potential pathogens. The only downside is that they don't have a kitchen or preparation area for fresh goods, but they aren't allowed to so I guess it's not their fault.

Purrfect Day Cat Cafe

I had the opportunity to visit Purrfect Day Café when I was in Louisville last week. I LOVED it. It was a beautiful place with the sweetest little kitties! They seemed happy and very well cared for. The staff was amazing, and the atmosphere was welcoming, clean and very modern. I plan to visit again when I go back to Louisville in October. It's a great place if you want to grab a quick bite to eat, have a coffee or wine and visit some adorable kitties.

Purringtons Cat Lounge

I enjoyed the time I spent at Purringtons. I had my first alcoholic beverage (at a cat cafe) here, a hard cider that was delicious. The room where the cats are kept is fairly small but cozy and comfortable. While we were there, there was another group of three and after they left a few other people wandered in. I can't imagine the cat room with more than nine or ten people, it would get a little crowded if you were trying to move around.
