UPDATE July 14, 2020: California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Monday that public health restrictions would be reintroduced because of an increase in COVID-19 cases. Santa Clara County is on the California Department of Public Health’s website state watchlist for hospitalizations which means Mini Cat Town will have to close again for the time being.
Mini Cat Town, a nonprofit organization in San Jose, CA focused on neonatal kittens, reopened their adoption lounge to visitors willing to follow social distancing rules on July 1, 2020.
Three sisters founded the rescue at the end of 2015 and with the help of many volunteers, opened the adoption lounge at the Eastridge Shopping Center in June of last year. In 2019 alone, 231 kittens found homes across the nation with the help of Mini Cat Town.
Visitors are welcome to socialize with several extremely adorable (eventually) adoptable kittens during their current hours, 12PM-6PM Tuesday-Sunday. The cost for 30 minutes of cuteness is $15 per person and $10 for children 10 years and younger. The admission fee goes towards continuing to take care of these extra vulnerable babies. Due to current issues with access to spay/neuter surgeries because of COVID-19, adoptions are temporarily on hold. However, they are continuing to allow adoption applications if you happen to fall in love with a new furry friend.
Can't make it in for a visit right now but want to contribute? Mini Cat Town accepts donations of supplies from an Amazon wishlist, monthly contributions through Patreon, and one-time donations through PayPal.
Be sure to check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for some seriously cute cat photos.
