In 2014, KitTea opened as one of the first cat cafes in the United States. They remain San Francisco's only cat cafe. Formerly located in Hayes Valley, KitTea's current location is in SF's Mission District. They are a permanent home for several resident cats and a temporary foster home for a few adoptable cats and kittens.

Meow Parlour is New York City's first cafe. They have adoptable cats from KittyKind, a no-kill shelter in New York. Just around the corner at 34 Ludlow St. is the Meow Parlour Patisserie where you can buy all kinds of goodies prepared by Macaron Parlour and baked at the patisserie.
